Wayfinding

Macquarie University

Designed at Generation Alliance

---

In , Gen.a was commissioned to investigate the current system and formulate a wayfinding strategy and design solutions to overcome the challenge.

Macquarie University's original naming and wayfinding strategy - based on compass divisions of north, south, east and west - was conceived as part of the original master plan in the mid . The system was subsequently dropped as the campus grew, but Gen.a believed there was merit in the original scheme as, for a university with a significant international student population, it used a globally understood language.

The project involved:
  • Design of signage system both external and internal
  • Comprehensive guidelines
  • Wayfinding schedules
